This weekend I spent most of four days on the north shore with about 30 high school students on a youth retreat. I came home exhausted and in serious need of a shower, but it was a great weekend and completely worth it. Highlights included a high ropes course (for which I took photos from the safety of the ground, I don’t do well with heights), a bonfire with s’mores, going to Surfer’s Church, stargazing from the beach and generally enjoying the beautiful setting.
Oh, and spotting some “Lost” tourists. Camp Erdman is listed on all of the “Lost” locations tour routes so random people with cameras tend to show up in the parking lot.
Anyway, it was a very good weekend and I haven’t quite gotten back into the home routine yet. I know I slept over 10 hours last night, which if you don’t know me is very unusual. I’m almost recovered, though, and having today with (mostly) nothing to do should help.
In other news, I’ve found a way toward a new home for The Interloper– there is a local no-kill cat rescue that has agreed to take him and place him, at least in foster care, and I can take him there on Friday! I’m excited for him (and ready to have my garage back), but I will miss him, too. At least this way I don’t have to worry about him and also won’t have the obligation of finding him a home myself, which has turned out to be very difficult. I don’t know if I’ll ever hear what happens to him, but I am glad I was able to save at least one little cat from a bad fate. Too many of them get dumped around here, and it bothers me that people in the military get pets and then ditch them when it comes time to transfer, especially when there are places that take them and give them homes.
That’s it for me. I’m going to enjoy my free afternoon (and probably do some cleaning, I haven’t done major dusting/vacuuming since my company left…) and get some sunshine. ^_^
Oh, and there will be photos soon in the photo blog!
