Springtime in Hawaii: week 13 of 2012 in photos
Monday was the first day for which I don’t seem to have a photo, so I’m posting two from Tuesday, 3/27. This is my friend’s backyard.

A handful of zoo photos from today
I don’t have anything much to write about today, but I did have a few minutes to walk around the zoo this afternoon and I took these photos. ^_^ Here is one of the many feral peacocks. He was showing off for a good twenty minutes. One of the elephants gave herself a dust bath.…

Hungry Hippos are Hungry– 2012’s first week in Photos
I thought I’d share some of the pictures I took this week since I haven’t written much. The one at the top is of the hippos at the zoo. ^_^

My first whale of the season
And I didn’t get a photo. It came with a big splash, though– literally! I took a couple of my friend’s kids whale spotting and the only thing we saw was a single, full breach with a massive splash afterward. Very cool. The day was gorgeous, though, and I’m surprised we didn’t see more. Tomorrow…

Fun Zoo News
So, I was skimming my online news sources, there was a link to the Telegraph.. and I happened across this photo: Cute, huh? Well, I also happened to notice that the barn looks awfully familiar, as does the keeper… and then I realized it was the new giraffe baby at the Virginia Zoo. ^_^ This…

Saving Songbirds
This happened two weeks ago, but I didn’t have time to write about it then, so I will write about it now. Two Friday nights ago I was spending the afternoon with friends who dropped me off at home after having nicely let me carpool with them. I got out of the car and discovered…

More about monkeys
Today I got to observe the annual health exams of the zoo’s seven spider monkeys. It was pretty interesting. They all lost (on average) 25% of their body weight, which is good because they were on a new diet (their former diet had made them all gain a lot of weight). I also took my…
